Stand and Deliver tells the story of Jaime Escalante in Garfield High School

Released in 1987, the film Stand and Deliver, directed by Ramón Menéndez, tells the story of the 1982 incident in East Los Angeles in which the students of Bolivian teacher Jaime Escalante were required to rewrite a calculus exam after they passed it satisfactorily the first time. The role of Jaime Escalante is convincingly performed by Edward James Olmos who was nominated for several awards. For a more detailed review of the movie please see:
